  • TD Summer Reading Club

The theme for this year's TD Summer Reading Club (TDSRC) has been announced. Prepare to go on an adventure! The theme for 2025 is Around the World.  TDSRC is Canada’s largest bilingual summer reading program for kids of all ages, interests, and abilities. It celebrates Canadian authors, illustrators, and stories that inspire kids to explore the fun of reading.

Beginning in July, kids can track their reading on Beanstack to earn badges and the chance to win cool prizes.  We're encouraging children to visit our locations once a week to share what they've been reading and collect beads for a reading necklace!

    Dates to keep in mind

TDSRC registration begins June 17. Reporting begins July 2 and runs until August 20.

  • Art Form of the Week

Oshawa Art Association is pleased to share this art form or the week, to see it you will have to enter the RMG and go to their garden. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm

    RIVER TREE/BRANCH is a Bronze | 6.2m long x 1.98m wide x .85m high

This sculpture consists of a 24' bronze Ironwood tree lying on its side, its position due, perhaps to high winds, or the ravage of time. River Tree/Bench’s ‘curved “spine” — the juncture from the roots has protrusions reminiscent of a backbone — and delicate root system, speaks to a sublime beauty in nature that can only be truly appreciated through a sympathetic understanding of what has been lost. River Tree/Bench was selected by the Jury Committee of the RMG

    The Red Shoes are back!

If you’ve joined us in the past, you may remember the powerful image of the red heels. This year, we’re bringing that symbol back- this time in a more personal way. We invite every participant to wear red shoes during the walk, in any style that speaks to you. Whether they’re sneakers, flats, boots, or heels, your red shoes will help amplify the message: we walk in solidarity with survivors and stand against gender-based violence.

    Why Red Shoes?

Red shoes have become a powerful global symbol in the fight to end gender-based violence. Inspired by artist Elina Chauvet’s installation “Zapatos Rojos” (Red Shoes), which began in Mexico to honor the memory of women lost to femicide, these striking red shoes represent both the absence and the voice of those who have suffered. Each pair stands as a silent witness to pain, loss, and injustice—but also to resilience, resistance, and the demand for change.

By wearing or displaying red shoes today, we walk in solidarity with survivors. We acknowledge their stories, we honor their courage, and we commit ourselves to a world free from violence, where safety, dignity, and justice are rights for all.

    Let’s Walk Together

Support a great cause. Celebrate resilience. Take a stand against gender-based violence.
